Full Job Description
The Passenger Transport Group is looking for a Roadside Maintenance & SafetyOfficer to support the delivery of safe, accessible and reliable public transport servicesacross Shropshire.This is a hands-on, field-based role that combines roadside maintenance and safetywork with regular bus driving duties. These duties involve driving for the DemandResponsive Transport (DRT) bus service, branded locally as Connect On-Demand,Shropshire Council's bookable, app-based public transport bus service. As well as theSEND fleet minibuses, as required, to help ensure continuity of service., You will work independently across the county and act as the eyes and ears of thePublic Transport Team on the ground - maintaining bus stop infrastructure andpassenger information, while also providing a high standard of customer-focuseddriving support.The role includes the use of a council works van for roadside maintenance andoperational duties. The post holder will be based at the Longden Road depot inShrewsbury, which will be their main place of work, and will be required to collect andreturn the vehicle to the depot each day., The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening or weekendworking when required.
- A full UK driving licence with a minimum D1 entitlement
- Willingness and confidence to drive passenger -carrying vehicles as a core part of the role
- Ability to work independently across a large rural area, including lone working We are also looking for someone who:
- Has good attention to detail and a practical, problem -solving approach
- Is polite, friendly and professional when dealing with passengers and the public
- Is comfortable carrying out roadside and outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Can manage their time effectively, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
