Full Job Description

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Road Safety Intelligence and Innovations Support Officer to work within the Road Safety & Active Travel Group (RSATG).

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual that has the knowledge, understanding and passion to work on key datasets and make analysis and data available and accessible for the wider team to assist in the County's Vision Zero Road Safety Strategy.

The role will report to the Road Safety Intelligence and Innovations Team leader, but duties will be split between the Road Safety Intelligence and Innovations Team and the Casualty Data Team. You will work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders within the road safety arena with particular focus working in support of the Safer Road Partnership of Kent & Medway.

You will spend a proportion of your time validating personal injury collision data, a key dataset which forms the basis of all road safety efforts in the county. In addition, you will be supporting the team cleansing, distributing and in some instances analysing other traffic and risk data. You will also process ad-hoc requests for information within this field. You will work with colleagues in relation to Safety Performance Indicators in line with the Safe Systems Vision Zero principles and also work on our safer roads, junctions and cluster site programmes., This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

You must be well organised, numerate, attentive to detail and have excellent IT skills as well as having excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You may have some experience of obtaining, cleansing or analysing data.

You need to be flexible, adaptable, enjoy working in a team, be able to manage competing demands by careful prioritisation and switch between tasks. You also need to be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.

Work that works for you and us - let's talk flexibility!

KCC is committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the county's working residents, encouraging applications from people of all ages, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds, faiths and those with caring responsibilities, and aspires to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves at work.

Please note - if you are interested, please apply soon as possible as the closing date for this advert may be earlier than stated should a number of suitably qualified candidates apply.

In return we offer a competitive salary, flexible working practices, comprehensive professional learning and development and an opportunity to work in a growing sector with a team focused on delivering high-quality Road Safety Intelligence.
