Full Job Description
The Rights of Way and Access officer is responsible for helping the public to enjoy the Powys countryside on our rights of way network and open access land. This is a public facing role, combining outdoor practical work with organising work projects and liaising with a wide range of people. It involves problem solving to manage complexity and adversity, and responding to issues as they arise to achieve practical outcomes.
You will be passionate about helping others to access the countryside and enjoy being outdoors yourself in all weathers, on sites that may be remote or rugged.
You will have experience in practical countryside access management and understand the statutory responsibilities around this, so that you can put forward appropriate practical solutions to issues.
You will have strong skills in communication to be able to deliver difficult messages and explain the countryside access legislation relevant to the situation.
You will have experience in negotiating to overcome challenges and will be self motivated and well organised, to manage a busy proactive and reactive workload.
