We're looking for a motivated, customer-focused Revenues Officer to join our friendly and supportive Revenues and Benefits team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in local taxation while helping residents and businesses manage their Council Tax and Business Rates accounts. No two days are the same. You'll be at the heart of our revenue collection service, working with customers, applying legislation, resolving complex queries, and helping ensure vital income is collected to fund local services across the borough. What You'll Be Doing As a Revenues Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering an efficient and effective service by: Managing Billing and Collection
- Administering Council Tax and Business Rates accounts accurately and efficiently.
- Setting up new accounts, processing changes, and issuing bills and notices. Supporting Customers
- Providing professional advice and guidance by phone, email, and face-to-face.
- Helping customers understand their accounts and resolving enquiries with empathy and confidence. Recovering Outstanding Debt
- Managing recovery action for unpaid accounts in line with legislation and council policies.
- Negotiating realistic payment arrangements with customers.
- Liaising with enforcement agents and other external partners to maximise collection rates. Maintaining Accurate Records
- Ensuring information is accurate, up to date, and recorded correctly across systems.
Interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies, and procedures consistently and fairly.
