Full Job Description
Our client is looking for a friendly, organised and motivated Reuse Shop Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of of a busy reuse shop in Llantrisant. Working alongside the Area Manager, volunteers and local authority staff, you'll help divert quality items from waste by preparing, pricing and selling donated goods. You'll play an important role in maximising shop sales, creating an attractive shopping environment and promoting reuse within the local community. This is a varied, hands-on retail role where no two days are the same. You'll work with customers, volunteers and colleagues across both sites, helping to ensure the shops operate efficiently while delivering an excellent customer experience. The role includes weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rota basis, together with occasional weekday cover to support annual leave and sickness.,
- Work proactively with Household Waste Recycling Centre staff to identify suitable items for reuse.
- Receive, sort, record and prepare donated stock for sale.
- Price stock in accordance with organisational guidelines.
- Create attractive displays that maximise sales.
- Maintain an effective flow of stock between storage and the shop floor.
- Supervise, support and motivate volunteers.
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Encourage visitors to support the reuse shops through purchases and donations.
- Promote the shops through local marketing activities and social media.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
- Complete daily administration and back-office IT processes.
- Operate EPOS systems, handle cash and follow financial procedures.
- Carry out keyholding responsibilities and ensure shop security.
- Work closely with the Area Manager to ensure both shops operate efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, including Health & Safety and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Report maintenance and Health & Safety issues promptly.
- Attend team meetings and undertake other reasonable duties as required.
Excellent customer service skills. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive with a positive, flexible approach.
- Comfortable working in a busy retail environment.
- Friendly, approachable and hands-on.
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.

- Experience in charity retail, reuse or the retail sector.
- Experience working towards sales targets.
- Experience using EPOS or till systems.
- Cash handling and reconciliation experience.
- Administrative or back-office experience.
- Experience supervising or supporting volunteers.
- Knowledge of furniture, electrical goods or household items.
- Understanding of Gift Aid.
- Experience using social media to promote retail activities.
- A passion for sustainability and the circular economy.

Employing more than 170 people across South East Wales, the organisation continues to grow and expand its reuse services. - Salary of £26,227.50 per annum (pro rata)
- 28 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays), increasing by one day each year to a maximum of 33 days after five years' service
