Full Job Description

Responsible Individual - Children Homes,

  • Provide strategic oversight across all children's homes, ensuring services operate safely, effectively, and in line with regulatory requirements
  • Take delegated accountability for safeguarding, compliance, and quality assurance across the organisation's children's services
  • Act as the senior link between the provider, Registered Managers, Ofsted, local authorities, and safeguarding partners
  • Take the lead in managing and maintaining the organisation's relationship with Ofsted, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring a transparent, proactive, and constructive approach to inspections and regulatory engagement
  • Lead on governance and oversight, ensuring each home is well-led, resourced, and supported to deliver high-quality care
  • Monitor and review safeguarding systems, acting as the escalation point for complex concerns and ensuring robust child protection practices
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, including notifications, inspections, and quality standards, ensuring services consistently meet statutory expectations
  • Support and challenge Registered Managers through regular supervision, performance reviews, and inspection preparation
  • Analyse performance data across services, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure effective workforce oversight, including safer recruitment, staffing stability, and training compliance
  • Maintain oversight of financial and resource allocation to ensure safe, sustainable, and high-quality environments
  • Contribute at a senior level to organisational strategy, performance, and continuous improvement

    Extensive leadership experience within children's residential care, with a strong track record of Ofsted success
  • In-depth knowledge of children's homes regulations, safeguarding legislation, and quality standards
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple services and support Registered Managers to achieve high performance
  • Strong governance and strategic leadership skills, with the ability to balance support and constructive challenge
  • Experience of driving safeguarding culture and managing complex risk across services
  • Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with regulators, commissioners, and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse performance data and implement quality improvements across a group setting
  • Committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people with complex needs
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Advanced safeguarding knowledge and understanding of safer recruitment practices
  • Desirable:
  • Level 7 qualification in leadership or management
  • Experience within SEND, autism, or complex needs environments
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or advanced safeguarding training
  • Background in quality assurance, project management, or service improvement
