Full Job Description
Experience in purifying proteins using FPLCs and cell culture is essential. You will also be required to maintain and use both human and insect cell lines for generating proteins and various biochemical assays. Applications are invited for a Research Technician to join the group of Dr Richard Meek to study the role of carbohydrates in brain calcification. This project funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences will use immunofluorescence, mass spectrometry, cell-based assays, and biophysical approaches with recombinant proteins to explore how dysfunctional carbohydrate-processing causes disease. Previous experience in these techniques is desirable. The post offers huge potential in understanding the molecular basis of brain signalling and neurological disorders., You will have laboratory experience in glycobiology, biochemistry, or a closely related area and be able to work independently. Excellent written and verbal English is required.
The post is available for 18 months and is offered on a full-time basis.
