Research Grants Officer

We are looking for two people to join our vibrant team and help drive the development of new research across the Trust and help manage a diverse portfolio of active grants. These posts are ideal for those who wish to build on their existing research management experience and contribute to the development of evidence-based patient care.

If you are dedicated to managing research programmes that change the lives of NHS patients, this offers a fantastic opportunity for career development. You'll get to work with researchers from across the whole spectrum of research, from those who are just starting out through to large successful, research teams; providing tailored support and expertise.

You'll be based in the Research and Development (R&D) Office at Southmead Hospital, with the option of hybrid working. Within R&D, the posts will sit in the Research Development and Grants Team, who manage a large and diverse portfolio of research grants, both internally and externally funded (>£50m). The team are forward thinking, always striving to engage new staff and clinical areas in research, make research accessible to all, develop the highest quality research grants, employ continuous improvement to our practice and processes, and improve outcomes for patients across the NHS through our research.

Please note that these are fixed term posts in line with current research funding available and we cannot guarantee extension beyond this time., We are seeking to appoint two roles into the team, both will cover the general duties and responsibilities of the Research Grants Officer roles, including research development (pre-award), and research grant management (post-award):

In these vital roles, you will:

manage a portfolio of research grants from submission to funding bodies through to set-up, delivery and close-out, often working to tight deadlines, and in close liaison with external Partners including Universities, Charities, Industry, as well as a diverse range of funders.

be the first point of contact at the beginning of the research process. Your research knowledge and project management skills will ensure a well-informed, coordinated support mechanism, through to the submission of grant applications.

be responsible for the day-day management of awarded grants, overseeing progress and expenditure against budget and supporting the dissemination of project results/impact.

work closely with our Sponsor, Contracts and Finance teams throughout the lifecycle of the grants in your portfolio to ensure all safety, regulatory, contractual and financial aspects are managed appropriately.
