Research Fellow

The post holder will be delivering day-to-day clinical research - i.e. assessing suitability and obtaining consent for research, undertaking full medical assessments of clinical trial participants including neurological, haematological and physical clinical examinations and contributing to data collection by administering assessment scales.

Whilst the post is NOT formally approved for training it provides an ideal opportunity for gaining experience in neurology, haematology and general internal medicine for further specialty applications, while participating in the development and implementation of patient and healthy volunteer-based clinical trials in an established clinical academic environment.

This is an ideal opportunity for gaining experience in clinical trials and we would welcome applicants with a broad range of general medical experience including Neurology, Haematology, Rheumatology, General Practice and Emergency Medicine, especially with outpatient experience and clear experience communicating effectively with primary care providers.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the delivery of advanced therapy clinical research studies within King's Clinical Research Facility. This includes Phase I-III clinical trials involving Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products (ATIMPs), including cell therapies, gene therapies, tissue-engineered products and genetically modified cellular products. Current areas of ATIMP research are focussed on neurology, rheumatology, and haematology.

The Fellow will act as a Sub-Investigator on clinical trials under the supervision of Principal Investigators and will contribute to the safe delivery of experimental medicine studies, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), MHRA regulations and relevant governance frameworks.

The post is designed for Specialty Trainees (ST1-2) wishing to develop expertise in clinical research, advanced therapies, translational medicine and early-phase clinical trials.
