Applications are invited for Research Fellow position within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The work will involve the development of methodologies and experimental systems to make energised artificial lipid bilayer membranes compatible with high resolution optical microscopy for the study of single molecular motors. The post is funded by the NovoNordisk Foundation Synergy Programme and the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with partners, particularly with the University of Oxford.
Applications are invited for Research Fellow position within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The work will involve the development of methodologies and experimental systems to make ENERGIZED artificial LIPID BILAYER membranes, for the study of single molecular motors. The post is funded by the NovoNordisk Foundation Synergy Programme and the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with partners, particularly with the University of Oxford.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a relevant physical/engineering science. The candidates must possess detailed knowledge and experience in Biophysics and/or BioNanotechnology.
We are looking for a self-motivated person, able to organise their own research activities effectively, and collaborate successfully across disciplines. The successful candidate will be a good communicator and will be expected to take the lead in preparing reports, presenting results to the consortium and writing research papers. You must also be able to work effectively in a team and organize time, tasks and responsibilities with other team members.
The post will be held in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) (http://ecs.soton.ac.uk).
