Full Job Description

The Department of Psychology is seeking a skilled and highly motivated post-doctoral research associate to support a work package on an NIHR-funded project, led by the University of Stirling, aiming to develop and test optimal alcohol product warning labels. The work-package aims to use iterative, multi-modal, theory-driven testing to identify the 'best performing' optimised labels and examine their influence on alcohol purchasing, visual attention and key mechanisms of impact (e.g., changing attitudes, knowledge etc). About the role The post holder will be actively involved in i) design, preparation and piloting of research materials, including online experiments, a longitudinal experiment and an eye-tracking study, ii) recruitment and data collection (in-person and online), iii) analysis of the data according to open science practices, and iv) preparing high quality manuscripts for publication. The post holder is expected to work with the work package lead at the University of Bath (Dr Inge Kersbergen), the work package lead and Research Associate at the University of Bristol, and the wider project team who are largely based at the University of Stirling. This will involve regular online meetings and occasional (approximately twice yearly) in-person meetings at the University of Stirling. We expect that the results from this research would be written up by the post holder in an academic journal and the post holder will also be instrumental in developing reports which can be disseminated to policymakers and other key stakeholders. The post holder will join Bath's Addiction and Mental Health Research Group (BATH AIM) and they will be encouraged and supported in pursuing career development opportunities., As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

  • A PhD in Psychology or related discipline
  • Experience or interest in the field of health and/or experimental psychology
  • Experience designing, running and analysing data from eye-tracking studies and online experiments
  • Excellent team working, communication, and time management skills., A driving licence and willingness to drive to drive the research van is desirable.

    We have one position available offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed-term basis. The post is funded for 21 months.
