Research Associate

You will be a postdoctoral-level researcher with interests in the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions and how these manipulate host immunity. You will become a central part of a team of experienced researchers working both independently and together with a collaborators based at the Universities of Oxford. The project will be centred on a fascinating family of polymorphic cell surface proteins that are expressed by host cells infected with the parasite that causes malaria and how they interact with host immunoregulatory receptors.

• A PhD in a biochemistry-related subject or equivalent work experience
• Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification in mammalian cell lines, and ideally experience in cell based human immunological assays
• In depth experience in molecular biology especially site directed mutagenesis
• Expertise in extracellular protein interaction detection (binding assays) and quantitative (surface plasmon resonance)
• Experience in handling human blood cells
• Highly organised and fastidious personality
• Collaborative attitude to support the progress of a wider team
