Full Job Description
The ideal PDRA will have experience of mechanical design, use of robots, be able to create fast prototypes for empirical testing using a range of methods and tools, be able to support on mechatronics systems development using programming techniques that will be required. The PDRA will also be expected to interface with the wider project team across the different faculties and support other activities including final year projects that could be linked to the wider research.
In this ambitious project we are developing new automated solutions for the manufacture of injectable medicines at scale. The project is multidisciplinary running across the Faculties of Science and Engineering and Design. For this post, to be led by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, we are seeking a dynamic individual to develop, design, make and manufacture automation solutions to support the manufacture of injectable medicines. This will consist of supporting the current research on developing the robotic cell along with the design of transfer and dispensation mechanisms to ensure the right quantities of raw ingredients arrive at the right point without waste. As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6) with comparable reduction in responsibilities and amendment in job title to Research Assistant, if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position. Applicants will need to be within six months of their course completion date and will be promoted to Research Associate once their PhD has been awarded.
