Full Job Description

  • Conduct own research within the field of computing education.
  • Contribute to a range of other projects within the research centre, supporting fellow researchers on projects spanning a wide range of computing education topics
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data using quantitative and qualitative research methods, ensuring rigorous and methodologically sound approaches.
  • Mentor and supervise students and research assistants involved in research projects, providing guidance on research methodology, data analysis, and publication strategies.
  • Collaborate with educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to identify research priorities and develop research proposals aligned with the research centre's mission.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences and professional meetings to contribute to the academic discourse on computing education.

    A PhD in computing education or be shortly about to complete a PhD
  • Experience of independent research, and a track record of high-quality publications in computing education research
  • Experience of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Experience of research with educators and in schools
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to present their research at the appropriate national and international forums and technical and non- technical audiences.
  • Proven organisational skills, with the ability to manage their own workload and work to deadlines.
  • Evidence of effective team working skills

    The Raspberry Pi Computing Education Research Centre (http://computingeducationresearch.org) is a joint initiative between the University and the Raspberry Pi Foundation. It seeks to achieve long-term impact by conducting original research as well as working with its partners to turn new research results into practice. The candidate will work as part of the wider team on a range of research projects.
