We are looking for a committed and motivated Reparation Coordinators to join our Youth Justice Service and play a key role in supporting children to repair harm caused to victims and our communities. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about making a difference to children, families and communities, and committed to overseeing restorative and trauma-informed practices. You will be confident working and guiding our team with children who may present challenging behaviour. You will have experience of working with children or young people in challenging or high-risk contexts and the ability to assess needs, design creative interventions and monitor outcomes. Additionally, support the induction, training and mentoring of volunteers and staff involved in reparation delivery. Alongside working with young people, you will build and maintain strong partnerships with community organisations, local businesses and voluntary groups to provide high-quality placements for reparative activity to take place. Skills or a passion for practical tasks such as gardening, building, painting would also be beneficial for this role. You shall also contribute towards case management, report writing and court processes when required. This is a physically active role and requires flexibility, including some evening and weekend working. You will need to travel independently across the county, including rural areas. Experience and Skills Some of the key skills required for the role:

• At least one year's previous experience of working with challenging children and young people (e.g. CYPS, police, probation, secondary schools, criminal justice, youth work).
• Knowledge of child development and attachment and development trauma in order to deliver appropriate intervention.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with children, families and multi-agency setting such as the use advisory, negotiation and persuasion skills.
• Ability to research and analyse information, in order to make judgements based on the needs and voice of the children, victims and communities, and efficiently solve problems, for example in the creative design of a child's intervention programme to meet their individual needs.
• Developed assessment skills in order to carry out the assessments of
children's suitability for available programmes.
• Ability to gain the trust and respect of other professionals in order to be able to secure and develop partnership working and secure high quality reparation placements for the children.
• Ability to undertake practical tasks e.g. gardening, clearing, arts, building, use of tools.
• Experience of effectively coordinating individuals or leading others.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work, coordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way and meet agreed deadlines.
• Experience of Case Management - Desirable

  West Sussex Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a high performing multi-agency statutory partnership which provides services before and after Court to meet the statutory requirements of the youth justice system. Its primary aim is to prevent offending and reduce reoffending by children. The service works in partnership with a variety of agencies to ensure children are offered appropriate intervention to address their risks, meet their needs and build on their strengths. The service also seeks to repair the harm caused to victims and communities by addressing the root causes of offending and reoffending by children.
