Full Job Description

The Birmingham City Council Rent Service has a permanent vacancy for a Part Time Team Manager working 21.9 hours per week. You will be based within the Birmingham City Council Rent Service based in the Council House Your tasks will include:

  • Effectively managing service teams to ensure that staff are working to optimum efficiency throughout the working time available in the delivery of income related services
  • Development and monitoring work plans for the service team(s) of assigned areas of responsibility
  • Provision of training as required to members of the team, including monitoring its effectiveness
  • To manage and supervise of employee relations issues within the service team(s) in areas assigned responsibility. This includes staff recruitment and selection, management of attendance, staff development, investigations, disciplinary matters and welfare counselling, inclusive of the use of people solutions and chair regular meetings with staff side and recognised trade union representatives

    Successful candidates must have experience of management and supervision of staff at appropriate level as well as extensive knowledge of Housing Legislation in the context of income recovery, along with experience of dealing with internal and external customers and will need to possess verbal and written communication skills of a high level.
  • Ideally you will be able to organise work and set priorities and will be able to plan and organise resources to meet service demand within specific; quality and performance frameworks and be able to demonstrate management of self and team including staff development.
