  • Renal Day Case Ward Clerk - Churchill Hospital - 37.5 hours per week - Permanent, An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to become part of a friendly team in Renal Day Case Unit.
  • The post holder will provide excellent customer care that demonstrates a caring and responsive approach to those attending the hospital, be able to accurately record and input data into the Trust's EPR system in a timely manner and file departmental records containing sensitive patient information while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. You should enjoy communicating with a wide range of people, be highly organised and have a flexible approach to work. Attention to detail and good keyboarding skills are essential. As a new member of the team, we offer a supernumerary period of training to help you settle in. We are committed to staff development and we will help you develop your skills for the role, as required. The overall purpose of this role is to provide a high quality, comprehensive and professional administration service in support of the clinical activities undertaken on the Renal Day Case Unit. Main responsibilities
  • To be responsible for the reception of patients, relatives and carers and ambulance staff in a calm, professional and polite manner
  • To provide excellent customer care that demonstrates a caring and responsive approach to those attending the hospital.
  • Use tact, diplomacy, understanding and compassion when communicating with patients and visitors who may be distressed
  • Collect personal and confidential information from patients or relatives in order to complete the admissions process, printing labels and wristbands for all patients
  • To accurately record and input information into the Trust's EPR system in a timely manner
  • Scan patient documentation into correct patient records in EPR in accordance with Trust guidelines
  • To ensure that information on overseas patients is entered accurately onto EPR, to ensure appropriate charges are incurred
  • Photocopying and other general office procedures
  • To deal with general enquiries to the unit regarding patients, both internally and from external agencies such as Police, other health care workers and insurance companies ensuring that they are directed to the correct department of the Trust
  • To work as part of the combined Renal team, providing administration cover where necessary at times of peak workload and / or unavoidable absences or shortages of staff as requested by the management team
  • To contribute to own personal development, through attendance at mandatory training and annual appraisal
  • To participate in the induction and training of new members of staff within the team

    NHS experience or experience in customer service environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels
  • MS office and applications (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Previous Administration experience, GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C, Recognised IT qualification
