Company Overview

DISCO is shaping the future of litigation with a unique combination of cutting-edge technology and expert professional services, designed to handle the most complex legal matters. Our award-winning, cloud-native platform empowers legal teams to instantly process, collect, and search through millions of documents for relevant case data. The documents are heterogeneous, comprising email archives, chat exports, audio, video, and native office files.

Our customers, often handling sensitive and privileged material, rely on us to deliver a platform with robust security controls, strict data privacy, and data residency guarantees that reflect their jurisdictions. Over 170 engineers make up our global engineering organization, located in three technical hubs — India, UK, and the US. Our engineers work collaboratively to solve complex technical challenges and enhance our platform, all with the aim of improving our customers’ experience. We are now expanding our UK hub, and this is an exciting moment to join us as we grow our UK presence.

Role Responsibilities

  • Own complex technical work end to end: breaking down ambiguous problems, making deliberate trade-off decisions, and shipping well-considered code that improves customer outcomes.

  • Invest time in mentoring, code reviews, pairing, and helping less experienced engineers grow.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in the UK, India, and the US.

  • Embrace AI-first development, utilizing AI tooling throughout the engineering lifecycle to move faster and build better software.

  • Take responsibility for all code and services deployed in production.

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency with AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kafka, Temporal, Datadog, Terraform, gRPC, GraphQL, Kotlin.

  • Experience designing and architecting microservices systems, including distributed data management and event-driven architectures.

  • Skilled in designing and operating containerized software hosted in cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience with cloud-based data storage such as relational databases, NoSQL stores, and data caches.

  • Experience programming in strongly-typed languages in the Java family (Java, Scala, Kotlin).

  • Experience with petabyte-scale, high-availability software systems, especially for regulated industries.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: £90,000 to £114,000 + performance-related bonus + equity.

  • Remote work options available for those living far from central London.

  • Comprehensive health coverage including private medical insurance via AXA Health and dental insurance via Bupa.

  • Financial security with group life assurance (4x salary) and income protection (75% salary after 26 weeks of illness/injury).

  • Retirement savings scheme with optional salary sacrifice via Workday.

  • Annual allowances for health assessments, vaccinations, and eye tests.

  • Well-being support including 24/7 digital GP access, Employee Assistance Program, and legal/bereavement counseling helplines.
