Team and Responsibilities

The Developer Platform team builds internal tools and platforms that improve the velocity, quality, and developer experience of Synthesia's engineering teams. They own developer productivity (from code commit to production), developer insights and SDLC metrics, developer infrastructure (CI/CD systems), AI-assisted QA/testing, and AI-assisted development. AI Adoption has grown to over 90% of employees with full adoption in engineering in the last 8 months.

You'll have a large surface area and real ownership from day one, contributing to making Synthesia's engineering go faster while maintaining quality in an AI-driven development landscape. You will work end-to-end, owning architectural decisions that govern how features are built, safely released to customers, and supported long-term. You will lead projects spanning quarters, breaking down complex problems into milestones for iterative validation. You will also own the operational health of the systems you develop and utilize data to inform decisions about iteration, maintenance, and deprecation.

Qualifications

• At least seven (7) years of experience as a software engineer, with a minimum of 2-3 years at a senior or staff level.


• Proven hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD systems, observability/metrics infrastructure, code quality automation, testing infrastructure, and developer tooling.


• Experience shipping infrastructure or tooling that measurably improved developer velocity or reduced cognitive load.


• Previous experience leading the adoption of new AI-powered developer tools or capabilities across an engineering organization.


• Experience in high-performing engineering organizations where infrastructure choices impact team velocity and product quality.


• Experience integrating third-party services (APIs, SaaS tools, external platforms) into internal systems with attention to reliability, security, and user experience.


• Understanding that platform and infrastructure work directly enable commercial outcomes.

90-minute Product Discovery and Implementation session, a collaboration exercise with our engineer (not Leetcode style, in Python).

Preference for this role to be based either in-office or remote in specified locations. We may support remote workers across Europe, subject to compliance and right-to-work checks.

This is a full-time employment position only, usually through OysterHR. Everyone at Synthesia receives 25 days of leave plus local holidays. We do not offer extra paid or unpaid leave. VISA sponsorship is only available if you are already in the UK/EU and need support; we do not relocate people.
