Full Job Description

  • Set the technical direction for complex, business-critical projects while balancing speed, innovation, and reliability.
  • Design and implement reliable, production-grade technical solutions, including clear architecture and specification documentation.
  • Define project problems, develop roadmaps, and oversee end-to-end delivery across multi-disciplinary workstreams.
  • Lead technical scoping and feasibility studies for high-value sales opportunities and strategic customer engagements.
  • Manage client relationships and communications, building trust and aligning technical solutions with long-term commercial goals.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices, shared resources, and robust technical processes across our Data Science craft.
  • Mentor and develop other data scientists and team members, contributing to our organisations technical excellence.

    We need you to be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC).
  • We need you to be willing to work 2 to 4 days per week on-site with our Defence customers, with travel to locations throughout the UK as required.
  • You should bring depth of expertise in at least one machine learning domain and strong technical breadth across the data science landscape.
  • You should be a skilled technical leader, with experience mentoring individuals, managing teams, and rolling out impactful tools and workflows.
  • You should have proven project management expertise, with the ability to break complex, ill-defined problems into actionable workstreams with defensible timelines.
  • You should be able to manage high-risk, ambiguous work and deliver innovative, practical outcomes under commercial pressure.
  • You should have strong customer leadership skills and be able to act as a trusted technical advisor.
  • You should excel at cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Commercial (BD), and Infrastructure teams.
  • You should have experience extending technical oversight to business unit-level initiatives and influencing organisational success.
