Full Job Description

  • We contribute to the design and implementation of new features across the full software stack, leveraging modern design patterns.
  • We support our high quality standards by ensuring code has appropriate test automation coverage.
  • We participate in peer code reviews and ensure design and code adhere to our standards.
  • We participate in security reviews of features to ensure products comply with our security requirements and industry best practice.
  • We work with UX, PM, QA, and other developers in project planning to achieve high-value, high-quality solutions that meet business needs.
  • We contribute to daily stand-ups, kick-offs, collaborative estimation, and retrospective meetings.

  • AI, We are Sophos, and we are looking for a software engineer to join our growing cloud development team and help us deliver high-quality software for computer security. We follow an Agile methodology with frequent, iterative releases to our live AWS environment. Our team develops cloud management for Sophos Central endpoint security products, and we have an exciting roadmap of new features for our cloud-based customers. In this role, you will work with the latest cloud technologies across the full software stack, contributing to infrastructure, data storage, microservices, front-end UI, and test automation. We operate a remote-first working model for most employees, though some roles may require a hybrid approach.   • We require a degree in Computer Science or another numerate discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • We require experience in full stack software development, ideally using Java and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • We require the ability to create well thought-through designs for software components.
  • We require the ability to write high quality code.
  • We require experience with agile development methodologies.
  • We require strong technical problem solving and debugging skills.
  • We require strong communication skills, a can-do attitude, and a team-player mindset.
  • We require the ability to learn new skills quickly and apply them in the role.
  • We would also value demonstrable expertise in building cloud-scale software solutions on AWS.
  • We would also value experience using Angular to build single-page web applications.
  • We would also value experience with microservices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • We would also value experience with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB, Dynamo, or Elasticsearch.
  • We would also value experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • We would also value experience with Docker.
