This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, to be able to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support, work with own initiative as well as with guidance. Working at a fast pace, always ensuring the child/young person's needs are kept paramount.

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who is:

- Able to follow care plans whilst keeping them updated

- Can support and assist children and young people with their personal care needs

- able to create factual reports

- willing to undertake training and put theory into practice

- Pro-active approach to own learning

- communicates in an open and honest manner

- able to organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people

- who has an awareness of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015

- Holds a Diploma level 3/4 in Residential Childcare, or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this

Sunrise Children's Centre offers overnight short breaks for children and young people in West Kent, from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have disabilities, including autism and complex medical health needs.
