Full Job Description
We're looking for a couple of lovely, reliable people to join a small PA team and help with an 8-year-old's evening routine at home.
He's nearly 9 and is genuinely a joy to spend time with. He's non-speaking, a wheelchair user and has complex physical needs, so he has two people supporting him together.
The evening shift involves helping with dinner, a bit of hanging out/entertainment, bath time and getting ready for bed. We're looking for people who could regularly do at least a 2-hour evening shift, with the possibility of longer shifts and some weekend work in the future.
It's a busy family home and can sometimes be noisy and chaotic, but you're not being employed to look after the household or anyone else. Your job is to support the child.
There is personal care involved, along with moving and handling and supporting him with his physical needs. Full training will be provided, so previous care experience isn't essential. Being comfortable with the role, kind, sensible and reliable is much more important.
Because he is supported 2:1, reliability really does matter - your colleague and the child are depending on you turning up.
You don't necessarily need to be looking for a career in care. This could suit someone who wants a few regular hours each week and would enjoy getting to know him and becoming part of his little team. Full training is provided.
