Rehab Support Workers

Join our Rehabilitation Team at Bedford Hospital and help patients regain independence, mobility, and confidence following illness, injury, or surgery.

As aRehabilitation Support Worker, you will work alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver rehabilitation programmes and therapeutic activities that support recovery and promote independence.

You will provide high-quality, person-centred care, assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals, and contribute to safe and effective recovery. Successful candidates will be allocated to a clinical area following assessment and interview.

The role requires flexibility to work a range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, according to service needs.

Comprehensive induction, training, and ongoing support will be provided to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to deliver compassionate rehabilitation care. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nursing Associate, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients. Your role will include providing personal care and undertaking delegated clinical duties, while helping to maintain a safe, clean, and caring environment.

You will receive a comprehensive induction, including a two-week supernumerary period, a structured local induction, competency-based training, regular one-to-one support from our Recruitment and Education Support Assistants (RESAs), and access to the Clinical Support Worker Forum.

All Rehab Support Workers are fully supported to complete the Care Certificate, including the Practice Assessment Document (PAD) and the 15 ESR Care Certificate modules.

You will work at all times under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the shift and will be accountable to the Registered Nurse that you are working with and to the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse of the ward or department.

You will work to the level of your experience, assessed competence and skilled acquired within the post.

You will require immediate and direct supervision in areas of unfamiliar work. You should not undertake any task that you are unfamiliar with.
