Regulations Technician

The Regulations Technician plays a key role in supporting the Team Leader to effectively manage activities affecting West Northamptonshire's highway network.

Responsibilities include processing and monitoring permits and licences for third-party works, skips, scaffolding and hoardings, as well as assisting with the coordination of events, highway works and development projects.

The post holder will also investigate potential breaches of regulations and contribute to enforcement action to ensure compliance and minimise disruption to network users.

What will you be doing?

This role will be responsible for managing and processing applications for skip and scaffold licences, ensuring that all applications comply with relevant legislation and local authority requirements. You will assess, approve and issue Section 50, Section 171, Section 184 and other applicable licences in accordance with the Highways Act and the New Roads and Street Works Act.

In addition, the Regulations Technician will assist with responding to customer enquiries, complaints and Freedom of Information requests, communicating effectively with customers, elected members, managers and external stakeholders in a manner appropriate to the audience.

The post holder will investigate reports of potential breaches of highway regulations and Public Rights of Way legislation and undertake enforcement activities where necessary to ensure compliance, protect the highway network and maintain public safety.
