Full Job Description
We are looking for a caring and driven Registered Manager to lead our respite service at Barleyfields House.
Our goal is simple: to provide a safe, welcoming environment where the people we support can enjoy meaningful and enjoyable activities, while families have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are well cared for.
In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, inspiring and motivating a dedicated team to deliver outstanding care.
You will work closely with families, social workers, and commissioners to ensure every stay is positive, well-planned, and person-centred., This registered manager role is to support a 4 bed respite service in Shrewsbury. There are currently 42 people on the books and there is regular turnaround. Therefore, the service requires a manager who is experienced, efficient and methodical about ensuring that all documentation is in place for when people arrive and leave the service. The candidate will need to be adaptable at short notice.
An eye for detail is necessary as there is a lot of data collection required for the local authority.
The candidate needs to be confident is supporting people with varying needs and abilities.
The team has been very stable but need encouragement to drive forward outcome focused support and promote independence. The team are very close, so will require strong leadership in order to keep them focused on the strategy and service goals. There may be a need to challenge poor practice.
1. This service is continuously moving and changing so the manager will need to be competent and efficient in order to keep up with the pace.
2. We took this service over in October 2025 and there are still changes to be made, both culturally and from a compliance perspective.
3. There is an exciting opportunity to develop people's skills in this service and work with some of our supported living schemes to move people into more permanent settings.
