Clinical responsibilities: To provide a timely triage service to all patients that attend the unit as per local and national guidelines To ensure intentional rounding is facilitated to maintain the safety of patients whilst waiting to be assessed and treated by the EP. To assist Emergency Practitioners with their assessment, provision of treatment and discharge planning using local and national guidelines and pathways of care. To support the practitioner in charge with day to day planning, the delivery of a high quality service and the continuous improvement of the Minor Injury and illness service Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients in MIiU alongside the Emergency Practitioner in order to deliver a high standard of individualised care. Provide advice, including clinical advice, and support to the local community (including telephone advice) staff and other disciplines. To be flexible and adaptable in order to facilitate the provision of
quality care for patients. Willingness to develop specific expertise in a particular speciality that contributes to the care of patients within the MIU (e.g. wound care, suturing skills). To have the ability/knowledge in the application, removal and adjustment of plaster casts and splints. To administer medication and treatment within the POPAM guidelines and within the Code of Professional Practice. Be effective in communicating with patients including those that have learning disabilities or communication problems Rapidly form therapeutic relationships with patients and carers who are experiencing emotional distress and be able to explain what is happening in a way they will understand. To maintain accurate and contemporaneous records Maintain enhanced clinical skills and attend mandatory and regular training as required Treat all service users and carers with dignity and respect We provide aMulti-professionalpreceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship
