Registered Nurse - Band 5 Endoscopy

As part of our expansion to being one of the Regional Training Academies for the Southwest Region, we are seeking an enthusiastic highly motivated nurse ideally with appropriate experience in an acute setting, with a commitment to team working and a keen interest in continuous improvement. Experience in an endoscopy setting would be an advantage, but full training will be given.

All nurses complete a bespoke induction programme which will be tailored to your specific needs. Once completed, you will be expected to participate in the cross-county on-call rota providing out of hours emergency care. Following induction you will be expected to undertake a number of specific endoscopy courses in line with your ongoing development programme.

Main duties of the job

To assess, plan, implement, evaluate and provide high quality nursing care.

To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

To manage caseload of patients within defined clinical area.

To participate in the on call emergency bleed rota

To organise own time and that of junior staff and students (include WTE and headcount).

To support the senior members of staff in the management and supervision of the defined clinical area.

To be responsible for the coordination of the clinical area in the absence of a more senior nurse., The JAG accredited Endoscopy Units at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital are busy nurse-led units that serve as both a Regional Endoscopy Training Centre and National Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. In addition to this, the unit encompasses a purpose built endoscope decontamination area. The unit handles emergency procedures as well as caring for routine inpatients/outpatients. In addition to this, the unit also have specialist lists including: ERCP, Peg Insertion, RFA, Bronchoscopy, and Thoracoscopy
