Full Job Description

As a Registered Nurse within our Inpatient Unit, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate palliative and end of life nursing care to patients and those important to them. You will assess and respond to complex clinical needs, ensuring care is individualised and focused on comfort, dignity and quality of life. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to shared clinical decision-making and continuity of care across the patient journey. You will support patients and families through emotionally challenging times, offering skilled clinical care alongside sensitive communication and emotional support. You will also contribute to the day-to-day running of the inpatient unit, including taking on shift leadership responsibilities when required and providing guidance and support to junior colleagues. Your role will help sustain inpatient capacity during a defined funding period and support the ongoing delivery of safe, person-centred care.

Following a new funding agreement with Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board, we are able to increase our inpatient capacity from eight to 10 beds, creating additional roles within our team. Youll be part of a highly supportive multidisciplinary team, working in an environment where there is time to care, strong professional relationships, and a genuine focus on dignity, comfort and person-centred care.   • Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration
  • Experience delivering compassionate, high-quality care within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work confidently in emotionally complex situations
  • Commitment to person-centred, dignified care
  • Willingness to work a fair rotational mix of day and night shifts as part of a 24-hour inpatient service
  • Desirable
  • Experience in palliative care, oncology or a hospice setting
  • Post-registration qualification in palliative care or mentorship
  • Familiarity with electronic patient record systems (e.g. SystmOne)
  • Person Specification Experience Essential
