Full Job Description
- Work in line with the NMC Code of Conduct. Demonstrating and providing evidence based high quality nursing care.
- Provide direct patient care for a team of palliative care patients and end of life.
- Supervise, teach and develop staff and students in the team.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with experience providing end of life care. - Certificate in Palliative Care/BSc in Cancer Care or associated modules is beneficial but not essential.
- Being a Practice Assessor is beneficial but not essential.
- You will be able to bring your exemplary communication skills which will enable you to build positive, trusted relationships with patients and families, ensuring they are central to care delivery and decision making.
- Ability to facilitate advanced care plan conversations.
- Prepared to work in a busy and emotive environment as part of a strong and vibrant multi-disciplinary team.
- Actively promote and participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision.
St Gemma's Hospice is the largest hospice charity in Yorkshire, supporting thousands of patients and families each year. We are a local, independent charity with almost 50 years of expertise in providing specialist end-of-life care to the people of Leeds. The Hospice provides In-Patient care but is not just a building; most of St Gemma's patients are supported in the place they want to stay - often their own homes. Our exceptional team, united by our mission to deliver high-quality care with compassion and dignity, consists of over 300 staff, alongside 800 volunteers who generously and passionately donate their time. Our Academic Unit in Palliative Care is at the forefront of clinical research and training, in collaboration with The University of Leeds. We were the first University Teaching Hospice in the world and have been able to supports research, education and training, and evidence-based practice on a local, national and international scale. Our nursing team is responsible for caring for palliative patients with complex needs and providing and exceptional standard of care with a 1:5 ratio. We ensure a supportive environment where we care for both patients and families., St Gemma's is more than just a hospice. Every role makes a difference in the local community, and many staff choose to get involved in supporting our fundraising and events, enjoying the sense of connection and community it brings., St Gemma's Hospice is a Leeds-based charity providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. We offer care to patients and their carers in the Hospice's In-Patient Unit, through the St Gemma's community team, and via our day services, which include a Day Hospice and Out-Patient Department. St Gemma's welcomes and provides care to everyone regardless of people's age, gender, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or diagnosis. Our care is always completely free of charge. St Gemma's is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the UK. - Pension - If you are currently a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and have contributed to the scheme within the last twelve months you are eligible to continue contributing to this scheme.
- Otherwise, St Gemma's Group Personal Pension Plan provides a 5% company pension contribution assuming employees contribute 3%.
