Are you a compassionate, motivated and experienced Registered Nurse looking to develop your surgical nursing skills within a supportive and innovative clinical environment? Healthcare Management Trust (HMT) is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Ward team,on a fixed term basis for a year's maternity cover,and provide high-quality, person-centred care to a diverse range of surgical patients. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about delivering excellent standards of care, developing their clinical knowledge and making a genuine difference to the experience and outcomes of our patients. Working under the guidance of the Ward Manager and alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating individualised nursing care. You will support patients throughout their surgical journey, including pre- and post-operative care, discharge planning and continuity of care. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to a positive learning environment, supporting students, learners and junior colleagues while continuing to develop your own professional practice., As a Registered Nurse, you will:
- Provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to a varied group of surgical patients.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans, adapting care according to patients' changing needs.
- Provide high-quality pre- and post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs and recognising and responding appropriately to patient deterioration.
- Safely administer prescribed medicines and monitor patients for their effects.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive nursing documentation, including electronic patient records.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes and continuity of care.
- Support effective discharge planning and ensure appropriate continuity and aftercare between hospital and home.
- Maintain patients' privacy, dignity, confidentiality and independence at all times.
- Contribute to the development and sharing of good clinical practice within the ward.
- Support students, learners and junior colleagues, contributing to a positive learning environment.
- Participate in teaching, preceptorship, mentoring and professional development activities as appropriate.
- Identify and report risks, accidents and incidents in accordance with HMT policies and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, health and safety and information governance.
- Work flexibly across clinical areas when required, according to your skills, experience and service needs.
