Full Job Description
· To have full knowledge of and to follow the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Social Care Wales Codes of Conduct.
· Maintain a high standard of professional knowledge and clinical skills to keep abreast of social and clinical developments in care.
· To take a lead role to ensure that clinical teams across the region obtain and share specialist knowledge i.e. infection control; diabetes; wound care; pressure care; ANTT etc.
· Provide clinical supervision for nurses in the region.
· Verify clinical audits across the region and develop and monitor clinical action plans with the collaboration and agreement of the Home Manager/Head of Region.
· Work within the guidelines of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct; NICE guidelines, National Infection Prevention and Control Manual and The Royal Pharmaceutical Society guidelines.
· Monitor adherence to Caron Group's policies and procedures and work in conjunction with the Registered Manager, Head of Region, Health & Safety Manager, if and when policies are breached or require reviewing.
· Provide advice and guidance to the team to deliver meaningful and engaging social activities for residents, incorporating each individual person's expressed preferences or known previous preferences obtained from 'About Me' documents or information direct from relatives.
· To guide clinical teams to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing and social care interventions
· To be conversant with all relevant and current legislations.
· Assist and support the development and implementation of any new systems introduced at the Home.
· Monitor, review and report on inconsistencies in clinical governance, identifying the underlying reasons and actions to be taken to improve compliance.
· Assist in the investigation process of clinical errors and when required the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.
· Facilitate the sharing of information via forums and meetings as required.
· Adult Nursing Degree / Qualification
· 5 Years+ Leadership / Management experience
· Effective verbal, written, literacy and numeracy skills
. Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the needs of the older person and the role of the Registered Nurse.
· Ability to effectively communicate with external professionals / advocates and families, as well as internal staff from a variety of backgrounds and job roles.
. Motivation to provide holistic, person centred care that aims for positive outcomes.
. Awareness of RISCA regulations and how they are delivered in practice.
· Forward thinker with up to date knowledge on current practices and industry trends
. Ability to guide and mentor staff to achieve high standards of clinical and care practices.
· Positive, flexible attitude and a desire to make a difference
. Full, clean UK Drivers Licence
· An understanding of and adherence to Caron Group's ethos.
Desirable Requirements:
· QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care Services (Adults Residential Management) The post holder may be required to work towards this qualification once in employment
· Recognised Teaching Qualification e.g. PGCE/CertEd; DTLLS/ CTLLS/ Level 5 Education and Training
· 5 Years+ experience within the Nursing Home sector
