Lead a specialist recovery team that plays a vital role in maximising income collection, supporting local services, and helping customers find sustainable solutions to manage their accounts., We're looking for an experienced and motivated Recovery Team Leader to lead our Recovery Team within Revenues and Benefits.

This is a varied and rewarding leadership role where you'll be responsible for overseeing the collection of Council Tax, Business Rates, Business Improvement District (BID) Levy and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). You'll ensure the team delivers excellent performance, meets statutory requirements and provides a professional, customer-focused service to residents, businesses and partners.

As the operational lead for the team, you'll manage day-to-day service delivery, drive continuous improvement and help implement new legislation, policies and best practice. You'll oversee recovery activity, ensuring appropriate collection methods are used to maximise income while maintaining a fair and balanced approach to customer circumstances.

A unique aspect of this role is acting as the Council's lead prosecutor in liability order, committal and related proceedings. As an authorised court officer, you'll represent the Council at court, providing expert advice and guidance on complex recovery matters.

You'll also work closely with colleagues across the organisation, contributing to service planning, supporting corporate priorities and helping to shape the future of revenues recovery services.

You'll be an experienced revenues professional with an excellent understanding of Council Tax and Business Rates legislation and a proven track record of delivering successful recovery outcomes.
You will have experience leading and developing teams, managing performance and motivating others to achieve ambitious targets. Equally comfortable handling operational challenges and strategic priorities, you'll be able to make sound decisions, manage competing demands and respond positively to change.

We're looking for someone with outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, capable of dealing confidently with customers, partners, legal representatives and senior stakeholders. You'll be skilled at handling complex cases, responding to complaints and presenting information clearly and professionally, including in court settings when required.
