As an HGV Recovery Driver, you'll often work independently, but the moment you step out of your truck, you become a source of calm and confidence. • Delivering exceptional service by safely recovering vehicles and reassuring customers during breakdowns, helping them get back on the road quickly.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.
• Staying solution-focused and compliant with EU Regulations & WTD, representing The AA with professionalism and a drive to always "Push for Better.", What do I need?
• A full Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence is essential. If you already hold a Category CE (HGV Class 1) licence - great! If not, don't worry - we'll support you in gaining it.
• A valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) and a digital tachograph card.
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology - we'll provide the tools; you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including weekends and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don't stick to a schedule.
• Previous experience of working regular or permanent night shifts would be desirable, along with a good understanding of the importance of rest and recovery when working permanent night shifts.
  
  Salary: Guaranteed minimum c. £37,460 for CE (HGV 1) license, £34,088 for C (HGV 2) license
• This includes a location allowance
• An additional £7,000 per year for permanent night shifts, paid monthly at £584
• Our top performers can earn up to £51,000 for a CE licence, and £46,000 for a C licence (This includes base salary, location allowance, incentives, and night shift allowance)
Shifts: Permanent nights on a rolling roster: 18 shifts in every 28 days, with two full weekends off. Standard Shift Duration: 9 hours and 45 minutes, including a 45-minute break. Flexibility Required: While standard shifts are under 10 hours, end-of-shift flexibility is essential. You may be required to work up to 12 hours (including breaks) depending on operational needs.,

Payment continues during authorised paid leave while you remain assigned to permanent nights and ceases immediately if you move to a different shift pattern. This allowance is non-contractual, non-pensionable and may be reviewed, amended, or withdrawn.
