Full Job Description

The working hours you will be required to cover are shifts starting at 8.00am and/or finish at 6.30pm - many of the staff work full days 8am to 6.30pm, with a day off or half day depending if f/t or p/t. The Practice operating hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6.30pm, with additional service contracts from 6.30pm to 8pm during the week and on Saturday 8am to 5pm, and staff are required to cover on a rota/adhoc basis., As a Patient Care Advisor -PCA- you will provide reception and administrative support to the clinical team to ensure patients are signposted to the appropriate practice services or external services. To carry out various administrative tasks which include; assisting the duty clinician, communicating with patients by telephone and at the reception desk, email communications, scanning and various administrative tasks. You will be fully supported by a friendly and innovative team, and develop new skills along the way.

Duties

Organise and manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing medical documents

Communicate professionally and efficiently at all times, providing information or directing enquiries to appropriate personnel.

Utilise computer skills to update electronic health records using programmes like Microsoft Office, Emis where applicable

The right candidate will be customer focussed with a common-sense approach, able to multi-task and work well in a team and independently, possess strong organisational and communication skill, and proficiency in various office software.

We are a large, central St. Albans Training Practice, serving over 19,000 patients and supporting the training of new GP's and medical students. We pride ourselves of providing a high quality service to our patients, with a team of well trained clinical and non-clinical staff. The wellbeing of our team is very important to us.

This position is ideal for individuals with previous NHS or other healthcare patient facing and administrative experience, to join a supportive team and friendly environment. Candidates should be organised, reliable, and eager to contribute positively to patient outcomes.

Full Training and a minimum two week induction period will be provided.
