Introduction
The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors attending the practice. The postholder will provide a professional, friendly, and efficient reception service, ensuring patients receive excellent customer care while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.

What You'll Do
- Greet patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and direct enquiries appropriately.
- Manage patient appointments using the clinical system
- Check patients in for appointments and notify clinicians of patient arrivals when required.
- Deal with patient enquiries both face-to-face and via telephone
- Signpost patients to appropriate services.
- Provide a high standard of customer service.
- Communicate sensitively and effectively.
- Respond appropriately to vulnerable or distressed patients.
- Manage concerns at first point of contact and escalate where necessary.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Comply with GDPR and practice policies.
- Always ensure secure handling of patient information
- Complete mandatory Information Governance training
- Comply with health and safety policies.
- Report hazards and incidents promptly.
- Maintain a safe and tidy reception environment.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff.
- Attend meetings and training sessions.
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence where appropriate.
- Support the practice in achieving its objectives and delivering high-quality patient care
