Full Job Description

We are seeking friendly, motivated, and highly organised Receptionists to join our new Surgical Elective Centre and to work across our existing John Radcliffe and West Wing Theatres at Oxford University Hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy patient-facing environment and is committed to delivering outstanding customer service.

As the first point of contact for patients, carers and visitors, you will be an important ambassador for our theatres and play a key role in ensuring every patient receives a safe, welcoming and positive experience. Duties include checking patients in and out of theatre suites, responding to telephone and face-to-face enquiries, preparing theatre lists and other paperwork, and maintaining an organised and professional reception area.

You will work closely with nurses, surgeons, anaesthetists and administrative colleagues to support patient flow, manage queries, arrange patient transport or interpreters when required, and scan correspondence into electronic patient records. You will also handle emails and EPR messages, ensuring information is processed in a timely and accurate manner., You will be the first point of contact for patients arriving at our Theatres and will provide a professional and reassuring welcome for those attending for surgery, ensuring a high standard of patient experience.

You will be responsible for the provision of a professional, comprehensive and efficient reception and booking service for patients and members of the department and managing the patient pathway throughout their stay in the theatre suite.

We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and customer service skills, can work independently using their own initiative, is confident with computer systems, and remains calm and supportive in a fast-paced environment.
