Full Job Description

Birmingham City Council are recruiting Re-Housing Officers to support residents affected by regeneration schemes across the city.,

  • Develop and deliver re-housing plans for households impacted by regeneration programmes.
  • Provide tailored advice and case management across multiple tenure types.
  • Advocate for residents and support them through transitions into new homes.
  • Identify suitable re-housing options, working with Registered Providers, developers, and partners.
  • Manage compensation arrangements in line with statutory requirements
  • Engage with communities, including consultation activities and partnership forums.
  • Address concerns, complaints, and representation from residents and Ward Councillors.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to accelerate re-housing outcomes.
  • Provide performance reporting and support governance processes.
  • Ensure households are supported appropriately and not at risk of homelessness during the process.

    We are looking for a resident focused, passionate people who can work in a pressured environment and juggle competing priorities. This includes working closely alongside communities impacted by regeneration across multiple tenures and helping them to secure the best possible transition into a new home.
  • We are looking for someone that is calm under pressure, is resilient and retains a positive attitude in challenging situations. Someone that is passionate and cares about the community they serve. We are particularly looking for officers with an understanding of working with residents in stressful situations, diffusing tension and providing good quality information, advice and guidance.,
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline., Experience of statutory housing duties related to re-housing or allocations.
  • Experience of managing caseloads within defined timeframes.
  • Experience of working with diverse communities.
  • Ability to deliver difficult messages and manage challenging situations.
  • Skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills across communities and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads effectively.
  • Clear and effective communication, including explaining complex information.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and deliver outcomes in line with expectations.
  • Experience of performance reporting and presenting information to varied audiences.
  • Understanding of Local Government and responding to Member enquiries.
