The post holder will work within the Radiology Systems Team to assist in the provision of the day-to-day management of the RIS / PACS / VNA and other associated Radiology IT Systems across the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust sites., · To carry out daily housekeeping of the Radiology IT Systems ensuring integrity of the data held within. · Participate in the review and update of existing policies and procedures related to Radiology IT Systems and workflows. · Work closely with the clinical leads to ensure optimum Systems functionality with regard to governance workflow. · Work closely with modality leads and system suppliers to ensure integration between modality and PACS. Work closely with the secretarial team to ensure reporting worklists are effectively managed and medico-legal requests are actioned in a timely manner. · Actively monitor the PACS system, interfaces and DICOM modalities to ensure an efficient on going, safe service to the clinical departments. · Understand the basic workflow and techniques of the various imaging modalities as part of a multi professional team in order to meet departmental objectives, professional and legal requirements. · Identify and work with Modality leads to resolve problems arising from incorrect use or misunderstanding of the DICOM modalities or PACS workflow. · Use analytical skills to troubleshoot on PACS providing a staff contact point for PACS and DICOM related problems. · Provide data analysis and statistical reports to support Radiology Performance and workflows. · Support the Radiology Systems team with the implementation of new systems / processes. · Be required to assist clinical staff in resolving their clinical problems either as a result of a system failure or local modality failure. · Ensure that staff using the PACS and RIS are adequately trained and updated using resources from the PACS / RIS master trainer scheme. · Attend any appropriate meetings in absence of the Radiology IT Systems & Performance Manager. · Register and provide training for new users within Radiology ensuring compliance with data protection. · Undertake appropriate training and updates to maintain competence on the systems and progress through continued professional development · Contribute to the preparation of business cases/plans within designated areas as and when required. · Undertake data entry/analysis and image processing and direct supervision/assessment of staff and students as and when required. · Participate in departmental Clinical Governance as required by the Radiology Operations Manager. · Undertake Clinical Radiography and associated duties as part of PACS / RIS training or as part of general rotation as required by the department. · Act as a Senior Radiographer organising workflow, staffing and dealing with queries in the absence of a Modality lead. Health & Safety · Comply and encourage others to observe Trust safety instructions and policies. · Comply with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017. · Use in a proper and safe manner the equipment and facilities provided. · Refrain from the willful misuse of or interference with anything provided in the interests of health and safety, and any action which might endanger the post holder or others. · Report to the Radiology Operations Manager as soon as possible any accidents or untoward occurrences and ensure that incident forms are completed. · Co-operate with the investigation of any accident or untoward occurrence. · Report any identified hazards or defects in any area to the appropriate authority. Training and Development · The Manager will participate in undertaking the annual system performance review at which both short and long term training needs may be identified. · Participate in providing systems training to Radiology and non-Radiology personnel. · Requests to attend internal or external training courses may be made at any time and will be considered in line with current business needs. Development Review Key performance objectives, development needs and compilation of a Personal Development Plan will be discussed and agreed at Annual Development Review meetings. Training Post holders are required to attend any relevant and mandatory training for the post.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Radiographer to join our busy PACS Team as a Radiology IT Systems Administrator. The PACS Team provides support for PACS/RIS and spend much of their time troubleshooting issues. The post holder will help to provide support dealing with enquiries in an effective and timely manner, as well as monitoring and actioning worklists to ensure workflow efficiency. Additionally, the role includes oversight of medico-legal requests, ensuring these are managed accurately and within required timeframes. You will be well organised, always working in a methodical manner, with the ability to think independently and problem solve. Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills, enthusiasm for the role, be well motivated and share a commitment to team working. We are at an exciting time for Radiology IT across the region and therefore the candidate would need to be open to continued learning of new systems and processes to meet the needs of the diagnostic imaging services. This is a Monday - Friday 37.5-hour full time post. The main base for this post will be Royal Blackburn Hospital, though the post holder will be expected to travel to peripheral sites as required., The post holder will be a qualified Radiographer and have a good knowledge of PACS /RIS technologies and workflows,
- BSc(Hons) Radiography or Diploma College of Radiographers., Health & Care Professions Council Registered., Ability to work single handed or as part of a team.
- Ability to understand, absorb and comply with detailed procedures, Clear and accurate written and verbal communication. Effective listening skills., Good working knowledge of Radiology IT systems and administration of them., Experience of involvement in Radiology IT projects., Able to take on board new ideas, skills and knowledge.
- Able to use own initiative and work without close supervision. Desirable criteria
