Full Job Description

1. To implement, monitor and review comprehensive and appropriate induction, orientation, support and mentoring programmes for all staff and students working within Churchill Radiology across the Trust. 2. To be accountable for the effective deployment of Churchill Radiology staff within the Directorate and support staff development within the Radiology Directorate. 3. To support and enable the rotation of Churchill Radiology radiographic staff within the CT across the Radiology Directorate. 4. To identify Churchill Radiology service requirements and provide staff and superintendents with the necessary logistic, administrative and technical support. 5. To fulfil the role of Radiation Protection Supervisor for the Churchill Radiology services across the Trust 6. To act on behalf of the Department Safety Supervisor in matters relating to Health and Safety, ensuring attendance at Fire Lectures with responsibility for recording such attendance. To assist in maintaining and updating the COSHH Data File. 7. To promote good and effective and professional practises in the Directorate ensuring consistent operation of radiography policy. To establish and maintain high standards in Churchill Radiology and patient care. To have an overall responsibility for ensuring that the equipment is maintained to the highest standards 8. To lead a Churchill Radiology Q.A Programme and co-ordinate the activities of the sections in this regard, covering all aspects of quality to ensure the standards are monitored and maintained. 9. To have a sound knowledge of the radiography equipment used in order to identify any malfunctions and take appropriate action. To maintain equipment records, logbooks, and inventory. 10. To ensure that policies are implemented in the Directorate to ensure Churchill Radiology staff receive appropriate training and supervision to operate and manipulate equipment to an agreed standard. 11. To lead and manage projects and initiatives as required within the Radiology Directorate. To present outcomes to senior managers within the Trust and to external agencies. 12. To assist in the development of initiatives in response to National and Local objectives e.g. NICE guidelines 13. The post holder will be expected to represent the Churchill Radiology Service within the Trust., To support the Directorate Manager and CUOM in providing a high-quality and cost-effective radiology service at the Churchill General Hospital within the OUH Trust. Deputise for other Radiology Managers when required. Ensure effective radiology services, service planning, and communication systems are in place. To ensure the management, development and evaluation of all Churchill Radiographers under the Churchill Manager's jurisdiction, including recruitment, appraisal, continuous professional development and performance and conduct. To have overall responsibility for the management and supervision of the training of Student Radiographers and Apprentices when placed in Churchill radiology departments in co-ordination with the University of Hertfordshire. To be responsible for ensuring that any Churchill complaints are dealt with promptly and effectively. To ensure the implementation of Trust policies within the Churchill Radiology and Directorate and be responsible for formulating, implementing and reviewing local policies. Budget Signatory, to work collaboratively with the DM/CUOM to ensure the efficient management of Human and Physical Resources ensuring that Churchill Radiology Service Provision for the directorate is met within agreed budgets.
