Radiology Department Assistant

Join our Radiology team as a Band 3 (Band 2 on appointment) Radiology Department Assistant and be part of a service that supports Xray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Interventional Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and DEXA scanning. You'll mainly work at the Lymington CDC, with regular travel to Romsey and Hythe, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

This is a busy, varied and rewarding role where you'll make a real difference every day. You'll work in fastpaced clinical areas, support patients throughout their imaging journey, and learn new skills including cannulation. No two days are the same, and you'll gain experience across multiple imaging specialties -- a great foundation for future development in Radiology or wider healthcare roles.

We're looking for someone flexible, proactive and confident using their initiative. Our service can change quickly, so being adaptable and comfortable with rota changes is important. You'll work four long days each week with one weekend off (three 8:00-18:00 and one 8:00-17:30, Monday to Friday).

Only open to applicants from Hampshire & Isle of Wight NHS system, which is limited to: Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare FT, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, University Hospital Southampton FT, South Central Ambulance Service, Isle of Wight NHS FT or Hampshire Hospitals FT., As a Radiology Department Assistant, you will support imaging services across Xray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy and DEXA. You will help prepare patients for their scans, assist with patient changing and care, and support clinical lists both in the CDC and at our community sites in Romsey and Hythe.

You will learn key clinical skills, including cannulation, flushing lines and working using aseptic techniques. You must be safe to work in MRI, which means you cannot have certain metal implants or permanent dermal piercings. You will also carry out clerical tasks such as frontdesk support, greeting patients, and updating patient information.

The role involves long periods of standing and working in busy, noisy environments with lots of patient and staff interaction. You will need to be confident using computers, willing to learn new systems and able to use your initiative. Flexibility is essential, as service needs can change quickly and you may be asked to support different areas at short notice.

You will travel between sites, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. Above all, you must be caring, adaptable and a strong team player who enjoys helping patients through their imaging journey.
