Full Job Description
Candidates will work a combination of 7.5hour (5days per week) or 9.25hour shifts (4 days per week) including regular weekend working., We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and proactive Radiology Clinical Assistant to join our busy Radiology team. Working alongside Radiographers, Radiologists, and Sonographers, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care across a range of imaging services including MRI, CT and Ultrasound.
Key responsibilities include supporting patients before, during, and after examinations, assisting with patient preparation and moving and handling, helping to maintain a safe MRI environment, preparing clinical areas, replenishing stock and equipment, and assisting with sterile and non-sterile procedures. You will act as a patient advocate, ensuring comfort, dignity, and wellbeing at all times, while promoting excellent patient experience and responding appropriately to individual needs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload and work independently using initiative, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, patient safety, and infection prevention. You will also support workflow coordination, complete patient safety checks, participate in mandatory training, and contribute to the induction of new team members.
This role may involve assisting patients with personal care, including dressing, undressing, and occasional intimate care, and therefore requires a caring, respectful, and empathetic approach.

Radiology is a busy department providing Xray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound services for the Emergency department, In-patients and Out-patients. We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
