Full Job Description

Our client is looking for a Quality Engineer to work for a local company based in Corby. Hours are Monday to Thursday 08.00-16.30pm and Friday 08.00-13.30pm. Responsible to General Manager. Responsible for:-

  • Implementation of the Quality Management System in accordance with AS 9100 standard.
  • The Role is to provide a resource to all departments in the company by acting as a reference point on all things Quality. The emphasis is to interpret the Quality Systems and guide managers so that the Company functions within the framework expected by our customers which is a contractual situation. 1) The Quality Engineer has to be familiar with the relevant Quality Standards. 2) Has to be able to guide the Managers through the documentary requirements a. of their records and procedures b. customers expectations c. external auditors requirements. However it is a common failing that this becomes a paper exercise rather than contributing to the Continuous Improvement of the company which is the target of the role. This is prevented by the Quality Engineer being involved with both Production & Technical Departments at "shop floor" level. It is likely that approaching 50% of his time will be used interacting with managers and their staff. 3) Has to have an appreciation of the processes. 4) Understand the practical requirements of the department. 5) Be able to make judgements that are balanced by the quality standards. 6) Collate evidence from the processes (often by audits). a. Recommend changes to records to be more useful in analysis. b. Recommend removal of record collection which does not generate useful data. c. Recommend new records if required by customers. This is therefore a "hands on" role as the Quality Engineer has to balance QA criteria with Departmental criteria. The aim is to make them coincide. Job Content:- 1) Continuous review of the company activities to assist the department managers in compliance with the published requirements of the QMS & the AS 9100 standard. a. Financial b. Sales c. Commercial d. Technical e. Production 2) Provide interpretation of the QMS & AS9100 standard so that the Managers are able to develop "best practice" and so comply with the customer requirements as interpreted to these systems. 3) Review company documentation to ensure they meet AS 9100 standard and customer contractual requirements. 4) Responsible to ensure that a system operates for the maintenance of records in such a manner that they are legible and easily retrievable. a. work performed b. certificates c. inspection records d. and all other quality records 5) To monitor the operation of the QMS in accordance with the Group Manual & the AS9100 standard by the use of the Internal Audit Process. a. to verify the stability of processes b. to complete the Reports as required by the AS9100 standard i. the Process Effectiveness Assessment Reports (PEAR) ii. the Audit Reports (AR) iii. the Non Conformity Reports (NCR) iv. the Objective Evidence Reports (OER) v. the Corrective Action Reports (CAR) c. to review the Audits with the Mangers and close out the actions 6) To analyse and manage the non-conformance database/records relating to customer complaints; customer returns; yield deviation from norm; process parameters; supplier quality. a. to provide a resource to Managers by input i. on data collection & detail ii. into the formulation action plans for Corrective Actions and Improvement. iii. on customer expectations and presentation of data 7) To assist or provide a resource for Root Cause Analysis whether driven by Internal Audits or Customer Requirements. 8) To monitor and review training records and assist managers to ensure company employees are aware of the correct procedures, methods and practices to be followed in their respective duties. 9) To provide a resource, as required, for the development and analysis of Statistical Data for Process Control. 10) To be available as a resource (advisor) for Technical & Production Managers on customer quality issues if required., We maintain appropriate procedures and technologies to ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of all personal data from collection through to deletion.
