Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you a detail-driven Quality Engineer with a passion for precision, testing, and continuous improvement? We're recruiting for a well-established engineering manufacturer in High Wycombe, offering a key opportunity to contribute to the quality and reliability of highly specialised electromechanical products. Working closely with the HSQE Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring products meet the highest standards through mechanical and electrical inspection, problem solving, and quality systems development. This is a hands-on role with real ownership and scope to make a difference across quality, process improvement, and internal auditing.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical and electrical inspection and testing of components, assemblies, and finished products
- Record and analyse inspection results and manage supplier/customer quality data
- Create and maintain quality documentation: procedures, work instructions, forms, and quality alerts
- Investigate product and process failures using 8D, 5 Whys, and root cause analysis
- Manage customer returns (RMAs), complaints, and corrective actions
- Conduct internal audits on quality management systems and production processes
- Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant quality standards
- Participate in quality improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain departmental KPIs and contribute to risk assessments and process reviews
What you'll need
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience in testing electromechanical products
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and electrical test equipment (e.g., insulation resistance, voltage drop, electrical noise)
- Ability to read and interpret CAD and technical drawings
- Excellent communication, organisation, and documentation skills
- Confident working with Excel, Word, and producing quality reports
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 (preferred)
- Experience with 8D, A3, 5Y or similar root cause analysis tools (preferred)
- Familiarity with Lean/5S/Visual Management principles (desirable)
Why apply?
- Competitive salary up to £35,000
- Work on technically interesting, low-volume, high-quality products
- Be part of a close-knit team with strong engineering heritage
- Opportunity to drive meaningful improvements across the business
- Stable, long-term role in a well-respected UK manufacturer
If you're a hands-on, analytical engineer with a quality-first mindset and a desire to grow within a specialist manufacturing environment, this could be the perfect fit. Apply now or contact Lewis Phillips for more information.
