Qualified Teacher of the Vision Impaired (QTVI)

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Specialist Teacher of Vision Impairment to join our experienced and supportive specialist teaching team. This is a varied and rewarding peripatetic role, supporting children and young people aged 0-25 with vision impairment across homes, early years settings, schools and post-16 provision. You will work alongside families, education settings and other professionals to promote access to learning, inclusion, independence and positive outcomes. The role is based across Staffordshire, with the current area likely to include Lichfield, Cannock, Stafford and South Staffordshire. We welcome applications from Qualified Teachers of Vision Impairment and will also consider experienced teachers who are willing to undertake the mandatory qualification in vision impairment.,

• Manage a caseload of children and young people with vision impairment, providing specialist assessment, teaching, advice and support.
• Work collaboratively with families, education settings and other professionals to improve access, inclusion and independence.
• Advise on specialist approaches, equipment and technology to support learning and participation.
• Support and develop inclusive practice through advice, modelling and training for staff.
• Direct and support the work of Communication Support Workers and specialist teaching assistants where appropriate., You'll join a knowledgeable and supportive team where specialist expertise is valued and where your work can make a direct and lasting difference to children, young people and their families.

• Be a qualified teacher with the mandatory qualification in vision impairment, or be an experienced and inclusive teacher willing to undertake the qualification.
• Have strong teaching experience and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
• Be an excellent communicator, able to build positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
• Be organised, adaptable and confident working independently as well as part of a specialist team.
• Be confident using ICT and interested in specialist technology to improve access and independence.
• Hold a current driving licence and be able to travel across Staffordshire, with appropriate arrangements considered for applicants with disabilities.

• Salary £37,101 - £51,048 per annum plus SEN allowance (£2,787 - £5,597) Dependent on experience and qualifications
