Full Job Description
This is a fantastic and rare opportunity for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf or an outstanding teacher who is willing to undertake the mandatory training course, to join our friendly, supportive team of specialist teachers. Working across a variety of settings, you will be part of a team committed to providing high quality support to deaf pupils across the borough. Your work will be crucial to the development of children and young people with hearing needs. You will be a natural relationship-builder, working closely with families which may include home visits and supporting them through hospital appointments. You will apply a holistic approach with a key focus on family centred activities and partnership working. Your creative ways to work with children and families will be parallel in removing barriers for them to learn and develop. You will take key part in developing cultural opportunities including community projects such as the short break offer tailored to the sensory needs of children and young people. The Service has a strong link with the local hospital that opens opportunities to work in close partnership with healthcare professionals.,

- Qualified Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience of teaching deaf children and young people or transferrable skills and experience.
- Confidence in exploring and adopting new technology and software.
- Flexibility to be deployed based on the needs of the service.
- Being a team player and working collaboratively with colleagues.
- Resilient and positive attitude with confidence in dealing with safeguarding issues. If you do not hold the mandatory qualification, you must have completed a statutory induction period and be willing to undertake the part-time, two-year Teacher of the Deaf training.

Salary Teachers Pay Scale - MPS or UPS scale (plus 1 or 2 SEN points) - depending on Mandatory Qualification.
