Following the recent Local Government Reorganisation for Oxfordshire announcement this is an exciting time to join the Law, Governance and Strategy Directorate as we work towards the formation of a new unitary authority for Greater Oxford. LGR brings a range of exciting opportunities within Oxfordshire, so now is the ideal time to join a growing, ambitious service at the heart of Oxford City Council.
We are looking for newly qualified and experienced lawyers who are proactive, confident, and can demonstrate they have the ability to deliver at pace, whilst also ensuring the Council's strategic aims and objectives are met.
The role is a career grade opportunity to gain experience whilst working in a supportive team and towards career progression. The post holder will undertake a range of work within the Property Team, with and without supervision, and work with the team and clients to support the Council in achieving its ambitions.
Experienced lawyers will have in-depth knowledge and experience to undertake a range of work on property, housing and regeneration matters. You will be able to provide complex legal and procedural advice to elected members, agents and other internal and external stakeholders to support the Council in achieving its ambitions.
A commercial and pragmatic focus, as well as an awareness of the political and corporate implications of decisions are needed too.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, collaboration and problem-solving skills are also required for this role.
If you meet this criteria, have a passion for the work and a commitment to providing excellent customer service and, are motivated by working for an inclusive and diverse organisation that is determined in its ambition to build 'a world class city for everyone', ensuring 'excellent public services are at the heart of everything we do', then we would love to hear from you.
For an informal discussion about the post please contact Emma Griffiths via email. Closing date: 5 September 2026.
