Summary


Castell Howell Foods is Wales' leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a QA Technician based at our butchery, Celtica Foods in Cross Hands.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


As QA Technician you will actively support food safety, legality, and quality standards through hands-on compliance monitoring and real-time verification on the production floor. You will work alongside production teams to maintain standards, prevent non-conformances, and ensure compliance with BRCGS, customer, and regulatory requirements.



  • Monitor and enforce GMP, hygiene, and line discipline throughout production, addressing issues immediately.

  • Complete all CCP verifications and compliance checks in real time, ensuring full accuracy and traceability.

  • Oversee and verify production records, traceability labels, and changeover documentation for the line(s) to which they are allocated.

  • Ensure that label verification, traceability, and product identification records are correctly completed by operatives and verified for accuracy.

  • Conduct start-up checks and product changeover sign-offs, including allergen and species controls.

  • Provide hands-on support to production, maintaining hygiene, organisation, and visual standards to prevent waste, rework, or downtime.

  • Support staff in following site SOPs, ensuring procedures are consistently applied on the line.

  • Monitor and enforce health and safety rules, addressing unsafe practices immediately and escalating concerns where required.
