Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to take ownership of procurement across two engineering and manufacturing sites. This is a high-impact role responsible for moving the business from site-led buying to a centralised, strategic procurement function, driving cost savings, consistency, and commercial improvement across the group. You will manage both:
- High-volume, stock-driven procurement (processing/manufacturing environment)
- Low-volume, high-spec, project-based purchasing (precision engineering/machining), Develop and lead the group procurement strategy across 2 sites
- Consolidate spend and implement group-wide sourcing strategies
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements to drive cost savings
- Manage supplier performance, relationships, and commercial terms
- Improve stock control, usage forecasting, and inventory optimisation
- Support project/engineering teams with reactive and technical purchasing
- Introduce rebate structures and long-term supply agreements
- Support commercial teams with cost data and bid input
- Improve procurement processes, systems, and reporting across the group
Proven procurement experience within engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environments - Strong background in multi-site purchasing or group-level procurement
- Experience with raw materials, metals, or engineered components
- Track record of delivering measurable cost savings and margin improvement
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on
- Strong commercial awareness and data-driven decision making Desirable
- CIPS qualification (or working towards MCIPS)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement analytics
- Exposure to both high-volume and project-based manufacturing environments
- Lean / Continuous Improvement / Six Sigma exposure (Bonus but not essential)
