Full Job Description

Lincolnshire County Council's Pupil Reintegration Team (PRT) is looking to recruit a maternity cover for an outstanding pupil reintegration caseworker to join our small but very dedicated team. The position will be working within a geographical area across the South of the county; therefore the ability to drive around the county is essential., The Pupil Reintegration service is a dedicated and busy team working to ensure the Local Authority fulfil its statutory duties for pupils unable to attend school due to health needs and with regard to exclusion from school. We are responsible for supporting the delivery of the Inclusive Lincolnshire Strategy in schools across the county, promoting the inclusion of vulnerable young people and reducing isolation and exclusion from school. We support head teachers, schools, parents and other agencies working with pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion. We offer guidance for schools and governors, to look at best practice solutions regarding behaviour management. The caseworker will encourage good practice through partnership working and reducing the incidences of disruptive behaviour and exclusions. We will support at pastoral support plan (PSP) meetings and subsequent meetings up to and following a permanent exclusion. We also offer training for governors around exclusions. The successful candidate will work closely with schools and partners agencies across the area to support with delivery of the Local Authority strategy.

  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Headteachers, governors, Children's Services colleagues, parents and a range of professionals.
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to interpret legislation and LA statutory duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce a wide range of non-standard written communications.
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills. Empathy and the ability to deal with sensitive emotive issues effectively
  • Effective time management and prioritisation.
  • Highly developed IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office and database systems
  • 2 years Experience of direct working with Schools and families
  • You will need to be resilient and understand the importance of diversity and have a clear focus on safeguarding all young people
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics
  • An ability to travel across the county for service needs, In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
